Experience

Vicky is qualified in history, archaeology and building conservation with over 25 years of experience as a practitioner in the heritage sector in a variety of roles. She spent several years in local authorities as an archaeological and building conservation officer, assessing the significance and conservation needs of archaeological sites, buildings historic townscapes and areas. After project managing the first Derby Townscape Heritage Initiative, she moved to Defra/Natural England where she was the national historic environment lead and oversaw and trained 12 regional heritage advisers. She is a former Chair of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and a full member of the Institute for Historic Building Conservation. She is expert in helping places and buildings in need develop appropriate and sustainable new uses through the planning system and targeted grant aid. Vicky has a particular interest in the regeneration of historic high streets and has been involved in the development, delivery or evaluation of over 30 townscape and historic high street projects.

Experience

Gwendolen is an experienced and versatile heritage consultant who has worked in arts and heritage for over 20 years. She comes from a museums and archives background where she led learning, curatorial and volunteer teams. She has extensive experience of collaborating with stakeholder and community groups to develop innovative and accessible engagement and skills-development opportunities. This includes devising resources, tools and training packages for a wide range of users. Gwendolen also provides curatorial and interpretation support to a range of communities, volunteer groups and arts organisations as well as heritage and museum sites. She has supported a wide range of historic high street and townscape heritage projects in the development of their community engagement and training offer.


Terry Hunns

Experience

Terry is qualified in archaeology, historic building conservation and technical illustration and has worked in the public and private sector in a variety of roles. He was the Extensive Urban Survey officer for Hertfordshire and subsequently worked for several local authorities to enhance their Historic Environment Record. These roles included desk-based and archival research, site survey and aerial photo interpretation. He has written numerous Buildings at Risk assessments and Conservation Area Appraisals as well as carrying out building recording and preparing illustrations for English Heritage sites and publications.


Catherine Kemp IHBC

Experience

Catherine is a qualified heritage professional with 10 years experience in the historic environment sector. Her career includes 4 years working for the Heritage Lottery Fund where she advised over 500 applicants, from local authorities to grass-roots initiatives, on projects valued £3,000 to £9 million. She subsequently moved to the Churches Regeneration Trust where she project managed a £2.4m repair and regeneration project to a grade I listed former church and delivered consultancy projects for the Church of England, Historic Chapels Trust and University of Aarhus. She has also worked as a project manager for the National Trust and most recently as the programme manager for High Street Heritage Action Zones – a £95m flagship programme for Historic England. She has experience of writing feasibility studies, options appraisals, business plans, funding applications and running community consultation and training in the historic environment.

Experience

Trevor is a qualified building surveyor with over 30 years experience working for the National Trust in various roles, latterly as Lead Building Surveyor for the Midlands Region. His experience ranges from delivering condition surveys and maintenance plans to acting as Contract Administrator or Project Manager on major conservation projects. This work has included projects on Scheduled Monuments and Grade I and II* buildings including Tattershall Castle, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and Charlecote Park. Trevor has a strong interest in vernacular architecture and has a wide ranging understanding of conservation matters from his previous roles line managing a multi-disciplinary team of conservation consultants.

Experience

Dawn is a qualified archaeologist and heritage professional with over 27 years experience in the historic environment sector. Her career includes 10 years working for a leading commercial archaeology unit where she managed large scale projects, including major infrastructure works and development sites from inception through to publication. She subsequently moved to roles in the public sector, first as a regional adviser and then the national heritage specialist for Defra/Natural England. She has extensive experience of assessing significance and managing change to the historic environment across a wide range of assets – from Scheduled Monuments at Risk to historic parklands. Dawn also been involved in the management of key historic landscapes and their setting, including the Stonehenge World Heritage Site.
